Do you perhaps remember that, when I started this blog, I said that it would be my internet home for all my addictions? I don’t blame you if you don’t. That was a long time ago and what with the lack of posts and all, you’re probably not even reading this. Oh well… Moving on…
So, well, I’ve been violating this self imposed rule recently. (Ok, I started violating it a while ago.) Most recently, this has been with a blog about video games, one of my addictions that I’m currently in the throws of at this point in time. Having separate blogs, though, is not really a viable option for me.
I bet you can guess what is coming next…
Or perhaps you’re thinking that I’m shutting down marginalia, in which case you would be wrong!
Actually, what I’m thinking is that I’d like to again bring together my social media empire city-state town hamlet neighborhood household (ok!) small, barely visible dust mite colony under one roof again. I don’t know if you’re into video games, but I am; consequently, video games will shortly be invading the space on the internets that marginalia inhabits. They’ll be situated right there amongst the rest of my addictions like knitting, cooking, photography and reading. Deal with it.
To kick things off, I’d like to recap some of the info from my last post over on my gaming blog. Here we go…
I recently purchased a Nintendo 3DS! I had some initial impressions:
Impression, the first: “Ooooooooooooohhhhhh shiny!!”
Impression, the second: “Why am I getting a headache?”
Impression, the third: “What’s with all the dust? Holy crap! It won’t go away!!!”
Impression, the fourth: “Are you done charging yet? … … … … How about now?”
Impression, the fifth: “Are my hands really that oily? Holy crap! It won’t go away!!!”
Impression, the sixth: *turns off the 3D and plays in the dark* “Ooooooooooooohhhhhh shiny!!”
That’s about it for now. I’ve been rotating through some games, exploring some of the built in features and applications and getting a feel for the system as a whole. I’d like to do a more in-depth review of the system and it’s features at some point, but I think that I need some more time with it before I’m be ready for that.
I picked up my Nintendo 3DS at Target and, although I didn’t know it going in, they were having a promotion where they were giving away a copy of one of the Nintendogs + Cats games with each system purchase. I snagged a copy of the French Bulldog version of the game but have yet to crack it open. I’ve enjoyed the DS iteration of the series; however, I’ve been so enamored with two other titles I picked up – Tales of the Abyss and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked – that I haven’t devoted any time to getting started. In addition to those, I have downloaded, but have not yet started, Pushmo from the Nintendo eShop and LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 is on its way to me. I should hopefully have first impressions/reviews of some of these titles up over the coming weeks.
I’d be interested to know if any of you out there own a Nintendo 3DS system. If so, have any game recommendations for me?
Note to the knitters out there: There will still be knitting content in this space! It just might take a while to get back there. I’m not as motivated to knit when it’s hot out, you know? Perhaps knitting will return when it’s hot enough to have air conditioning that makes me cold and makes me think of knitted things…
