happy things for hump day, 2011.#05

It’s Wednesday. I need some happy things to get me over that hump in the middle of the week. I thought you might, too; so, some of the things that have made me smile recently:

  1. Listening to the Arctic Monkeys album Humbug.  Some English indie rock to brighten my day and get me singing in my office.
  2. Contemplating knitting up The Sinister Bagtopus.  It’s quirky and fun.  I think it is awesome, but I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to carry it around on a regular basis…  Perhaps I could make it as a bonus project for Rhinebeck this year…  That’s an idea!  A good idea, actually.
  3. Reading about restoring antique straight razors over on The Art of Manliness blog.  I love the way these old razors look but I don’t know if I’m brave enough to attempt shaving with a straight razor.  Also awesome from this blog is this post about campfire bread baking.
  4. Looking through images of the book art photography of Thomas Allen.  He slices and dices book art (mostly the cover art of pulp fiction books) to create wonderful pop-up book-like scenes that he then photographs.  Some of my favorites:

That’s it for now! Happy Hump Day!! Hope you too find something that makes you smile.

PS  Happy Administrative Professionals Day to all of you hard working administrative professionals (in other words, all those people that actually keep the world’s offices running)!!
