I had an unexpectedly busy Valentine’s Day, not very normal but very me. First off, Andrew and I went to get long overdue haircuts. After that, we went to Ikea to help my aunt pick out and load furniture. It was crowded but fun. We haven’t been there in quite a while… While we were there, we stopped for a coffee break at the restaurant and Andrew and I shared this delectable Chocolate Overload cake:
We purchased enough napkins to insulate our home and I also picked up some great fabrics while we were there:
On our way back from Ikea, we stopped by the Morris Arboretum to see the witchhazel that are in bloom. Witchhazel are some of my favorite trees. Their blooms are beautiful and fragrant and they bloom on bare branches in the winter. Really, what more could you ask for? During our visit, I had the opportunity to get a little more practice with my new digital camera in preparation for the upcoming trip to Japan. I also took some test photos with my older Canon EOS Rebel 2000 SLR so that I can be prepared for some serious photography while on the trip. I can’t wait to see what comes out when I get the film developed. Anywho, you can click on the photo below for some more photographs from the trip today… if you like…
I spent most of the remainder of my evening sewing up a tote bag with some of the fabric I purchased at Ikea. It is very handsome if I do say so myself. Anyway, I’ll post some photographs of my efforts after I get a chance for a photo shoot in some nice natural lighting. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny…
Oh yeah, to top it all off, we also discovered a leak in our house’s drain pipe that creates rather large puddles of water in our basement. Fun, no?
I’m so jealous! I love the fabrics you picked out — it makes me want to go to IKEA like right now. Did you see our friend, Harry, at the arboretum? Sweet little Harry.
hehehe… I love Ikea so much!!
Yes; we did see Harry and he was wearing a little hunting cap. I think he was very confused about why we showed up about an hour before the arboretum closed, though…
